A career in composition does not develop overnight, and those of us who need financial help in the beginning stages are not likely to receive it in the form of commission fees. Those who believe in us from the beginning, such as the NSTT, make it possible to develop our technique; as I continue my studies at McGill, I know that I am very happy where I am and it is with help from the Nova Scotia Talent Trust that I am able to secure my footing... in the music industry.

From the Trust's first 40 years come names like harpsichordist Gordon Murray, organist John Grew, soprano Deborah Jeans, actor Don Allison, singer/actress Peggy Mahon, painter Jean Edmonds Hancock, photographer Sherman Hines, classical guitarist Dale Kavanagh, French horn player David Parker, soprano Sue Doran, and actress Sara Orenstein.  More recently, artists have included dancer Ruth Ellen Kroll Jackson, actor Anne Marie Woods, poet Maureen Hull and cellist Denise Djokic.
