Supporting Nova Scotia's Emerging Artists Since 1944
The Nova Scotia Talent Trust (NSTT) is dedicated to empowering the next generation of Nova Scotian artists. We provide scholarships, awards, and resources to help emerging talents in music, dance, film, theatre, literary, and visual arts pursue their artistic goals.
Our Origins
NSTT was established in 1944 to support contralto Portia White, who became the first Black Canadian concert singer to achieve international acclaim. Her success highlighted the need for sustained support for artists, leading to the creation of NSTT to assist other emerging talents in Nova Scotia.
Our Mission
We aim to nurture and support emerging Nova Scotian artists by providing financial assistance and resources, enabling them to develop their skills and contribute to the cultural landscape of the province.
Our Impact
Over 1,500 scholarships awarded to date.
NSTT continues to adapt and grow, ensuring that emerging artists have the support they need to thrive. We believe in the power of the arts to enrich communities and are committed to fostering artistic excellence in Nova Scotia.
